Winthrop School Committee approves $1.2 million in warrants as enrollment tops 2,000. Members Burrows, Darcy, Cubick, Letary, Purrington and Martucci approved warrant SVW 27-4 for $228,383.65 and payroll warrant SPW 27-4 for $980,203.75 by roll call. The superintendent reported districtwide enrollment at 2,002 students and said 62 students qualified for busing this year versus a historical average of 26 to 27, prompting a second daily route from outside vendor TLP.

The district is saving roughly $29,000 a year combined by moving onboarding and video-meeting platforms to PowerSchool and Google Meet. "That's a decision the school committee made because of the financial impact," the superintendent said of limiting transportation to legally eligible students. The meeting opened with a moment of silence for former staff members Margaret "Pat" Connors and Leanne Silverman.
