School Committee · Meeting of August 10, 2026
Winthrop School Committee referred a Kids Only After School space-expansion request to its Buildings and Grounds Subcommittee. Executive Director Brianna told the committee the after-school program has "a waitlist of over 40 kids" beyond its licensed 65-child capacity at the Gorman Fort Banks School. The committee approved warrants totaling $650,615.79, including payroll of $260,194.
The superintendent detailed two legislative earmarks secured by Sen. Lydia Edwards, including $10,000 for roof and sprinkler repairs and funds redirected to gym floor work, plus federal entitlement grants topping $652,184 for special education. The superintendent also flagged an unbudgeted, state-mandated composting program and said she will bring a nurse substitute pay-raise recommendation, from $150 toward a $250-$275 regional average, to the next meeting.
