Board of Health · Meeting of October 28, 2026

WINTHROP — The Winthrop Board of Health heard a Senior Center update and put off a disposable-items policy for another year. Council on Aging Director Matt Rhodes told co-chair Heidi Fantasia and member Jeanne Maggio that free in-town van rides cost $5 to $16 or $17 round trip outside Winthrop, require two weekdays' advance booking, and that the center loans donated wheelchairs, walkers and shower chairs to any resident who calls. Maggio said the board should push for presentations to the Town Council, arguing "it's important that we are also a conduit for the community." Members confirmed a reusable-container proposal raised at a January 13 meeting never became policy and will ask presenter Wendy for a formal plan in roughly a year.

Winthrop Chamber of Commerce President Dana said her Revere Beach ice-cream stand's lot is becoming an "80-room condo complex with parking." The board accepted September's minutes unanimously and will seek a December 2 meeting date, skipping November.
